About the Company

Our client is a reputable New Zealand FMCG company known for quality products, innovation, and consumer trust. Operating in domestic and international markets, their health and safety leadership creates a significant and tangible impact on site.

Role Overview

This newly created Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager position is based at a single manufacturing site in Auckland, reporting to senior operations leadership. You will be responsible for managing day-to-day health and safety standards, compliance documentation, and fostering a strong safety culture by collaborating closely with Operations and Manufacturing Managers to improve site performance.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage daily health and safety compliance and standards at one manufacturing and warehousing facility.
  • Enhance documentation and reporting to comply with regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Manufacturing Managers to integrate safety practices on the production floor.
  • Lead incident investigations using the ICAM method, ensuring effective corrective actions are applied.
  • Develop and deliver health and safety training, inductions, and toolbox talks on-site.
  • Cultivate a proactive safety culture beyond mere regulatory compliance.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in health and safety systems and processes.
  • Provide reports on health and safety performance and risks to senior leadership.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience managing health and safety in warehousing, manufacturing, or FMCG sectors.
  • Trained in ICAM with proven capability leading incident investigations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across diverse organizational levels.
  • Proven success driving meaningful change rather than just maintaining documentation.
  • Relevant health and safety qualification preferred such as the New Zealand Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented mindset embracing improvement opportunities.
  • Confident operating independently as the lead health and safety representative on-site.

Benefits and Work Environment

This role offers the opportunity to actively shape health and safety practices at the site with real autonomy and visible impact. You will collaborate with an engaged leadership team and have potential to expand responsibilities into broader risk and compliance management. The site is conveniently located in Mangere with easy on-site parking.

  • Opportunities for career growth and leadership development.
  • Employee share purchase plan.
  • On-site parking facility.
