Located in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand, Otumoetai Tennis Club (OTC) is a leading local tennis institution featuring outstanding facilities with 14 courts, a dedicated membership, and a welcoming community atmosphere.

Position Purpose

The Head Tennis Coach will oversee and expand OTC's coaching offerings by leading a team of coaches, managing junior tennis programs, creating clear player development pathways from beginners to competitive levels, increasing club participation and membership, and collaborating with the Club Committee to realize the club’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert coaching to juniors and adults at all skill levels.
• Create and maintain player progression routes from introductory Hot Shots programs to competitive tournament play.
• Deliver private lessons, group sessions, squads, school programs, and holiday camps.
• Establish and support a performance academy to nurture and retain talented players locally.
• Organize coaching schedules, court usage, player data, and communications effectively.
• Coordinate tournaments, holiday programs, and other special events.
• Assist interclub teams and competitive players.
• Foster relationships with local schools and community groups.
• Promote coaching activities through social media and marketing efforts.
• Guide assistant coaches and sustain a positive coaching environment.
• Maintain up-to-date coaching certifications and engage in ongoing professional development.

Candidate Requirements

• At least 3 years of coaching experience in a structured tennis environment.
• Possession of Tennis New Zealand, Tennis Australia Level 1 Development Coach certification or a recognized equivalent.
• Proven ability to coach players across all ages and skill levels.
• Understanding of long-term athlete development principles.
• Strong communication and organizational capabilities.
• Ability to cultivate strong connections with players, parents, and club members.
• Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to acquire one.
• Valid driver’s license and eligibility to work in New Zealand.
• Successful completion of a Police Vetting process.

Preferred Experience

• Experience growing club-level coaching programs.
• Background in developing high performance or representative players.
• Involvement with school coaching initiatives.
• Certifications in Cardio Tennis and/or Tennis Xpress.
• Skills in tournament organization and management.
• Experience with marketing and social media promotion.
