Role Overview

We seek a seasoned Head of Operations to lead and expand Huru's operational departments as the company scales. This strategic leadership position requires managing operational excellence across various domains such as customer, payment, card, onboarding, compliance, and business processes. Collaborating with internal teams including Product, Engineering, Compliance, Risk, Finance, and Customer Experience, the role focuses on building efficient, scalable, compliant, and customer-focused operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct comprehensive operational functions across the organization.
  • Develop and scale operational workflows that align with business growth and maintain high-quality customer experiences.
  • Manage functions such as customer service, payment processing, card issuance, remittance, WPS operations, onboarding, KYC/KYB verification, and back-office activities.
  • Create, enforce, and refine operational policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), governance frameworks, and internal controls.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), service-level agreements (SLAs), productivity metrics, quality benchmarks, and overall service standards.
  • Lead initiatives for operational excellence by promoting automation, optimizing processes, and adopting technology.
  • Work closely with the Product and Engineering teams to enhance operational workflows and reduce manual interventions.
  • Partner with Compliance, Risk, AML, and Legal departments to ensure full regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee incident management, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain strategic partnerships with banks, payment providers, vendors, and other third-party service providers.
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead high-performing operations teams while cultivating accountability and continuous improvement cultures.

Candidate Profile

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Over ten years of leadership experience in operations within fintech, banking, payments, or related financial services sectors.
  • Proven expertise managing large operational teams in dynamic, fast-paced settings.
  • Deep knowledge of payment systems, card issuing, remittance services, digital banking, customer onboarding, KYC/KYB processes, and other financial service operations.
  • Capability in designing scalable operational models and governance frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving competencies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in driving operational transformations, process enhancements, and automation.
  • Comfortable handling data dashboards, KPIs, and preparing executive-level reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience at a financial institution regulated by the Central Bank of the UAE or a similar regulated fintech setting.
  • Knowledge of the UAE payments ecosystem including WPS, payroll, domestic and international remittances, card issuing, and digital wallet solutions.
  • Expertise managing operational risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, PMP, or other operational excellence methodologies.
