Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive Head of IT and Security to helm our internal IT, security, and compliance operations during this period of growth. Reporting to the Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO), you will ensure that our personnel, infrastructure, and data maintain robust security safeguards while supporting agile business operations. This leadership role demands close collaboration with Engineering, Legal, Human Resources, and Technology leadership to establish a resilient, modern, and compliant technological environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the IT Support, Security, and Compliance teams to build a dependable and scalable internal technology function.
• Oversee security and compliance initiatives, particularly SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certification processes, to sustain a strong security framework.
• Administer Microsoft 365 across a sophisticated, multi-tenant structure, optimizing security, identity management, and user experience.
• Manage key technology vendors, orchestrate contract renewals, licensing efficiency, and commercial negotiations.
• Collaborate with Engineering teams to assess and mitigate security risks during major platform and legacy system migrations.
• Coordinate closely with Legal, Data Protection Officers, and People teams to embed compliance, governance, and security standards organization-wide.

Candidate Profile

• Substantial leadership expertise in IT, Security, or Corporate Technology functions within expanding technology enterprises.
• Demonstrated success in leading or co-leading SOC 2 Type II or ISO 27001 certification initiatives.
• Practical experience managing Microsoft 365 in complex or multi-tenant environments.
• Skilled in enterprise technology vendor management, software licensing, and contract negotiation.
• Knowledgeable of Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platforms like Scytale or equivalent compliance automation tools.
• Comfortable as a strategic collaborator with Product and Engineering teams, rather than functioning as an isolated IT unit.
• Beneficial experience in educational technology, language services, or businesses serving both B2B and B2C markets.
