About the Role

This position is based in Nigeria and involves working closely with the Facilities Manager and priesthood leaders to handle various maintenance tasks. The role covers minor electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, painting, landscaping, and deep cleaning tasks. The candidate will also maintain logs of supplies purchased and used, and follow the Facilities Management work order process diligently. Assistance in contractor supervision is part of this role, including reporting of skill and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out minor repairs including painting, roof fixes, plumbing issues, generator upkeep, tile, plaster, gypsum board fixing, as well as care of lawns, trees, sprinkler systems, and lawn mowers.
• Provide custodial services to ensure meetinghouse and surrounding grounds remain clean and well-organized.
• Demonstrate procurement skills, monitor projects, conduct inspections following standards, report on progress, and maintain workplace safety.
• Work closely with the Strategic Relationship Specialist on purchasing and business-related decisions.
• Repair locks, hinges, carpentry mill work, minor sheetrock, tile installations, wall coverings, small paint tasks, and maintenance of motors, engines, and grounds equipment.
• Ensure safety during all activities and promptly report hazards to the Facilities Manager.
• Participate in meetings and training sessions to improve technical skills as directed by the Facilities Manager.
• Perform any additional duties assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and possession of a current Temple recommend confirming worthiness.
• Educational qualification of CTC II or HND in Building Construction, Electricals, or related disciplines.
• At least three years of experience in facilities maintenance including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and deep cleaning.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, able to interact respectfully with priesthood leaders, vendors, and colleagues.
• Physical ability to climb ladders, stairs, and perform bending, stooping, crawling, squatting, and overhead reaching necessary for maintenance work.
• Knowledge and safe handling of industrial cleaning chemicals and products.
• Proficiency in operating both manual and power tools and equipment to perform repairs.
• Good computer skills including the ability to use MS Office applications, specialized software, web programs, internet services, and wireless communication tools proficiently.
