About the role
Marks is seeking a Strategy Director to help shape the direction of ambitious brands by turning complex commercial problems into clear, effective brand strategy. The company combines creativity, culture, and technology across a global network of 20 studios, 17 languages, and 5 regions, operating under one P&L. It blends strategic thinking, brand creative, content creation, and digital capability rather than functioning like a conventional agency.
This position is designed for a senior strategic leader who can connect business objectives with creative output, especially within eCommerce and digital retail environments. The role calls for someone who can influence clients, guide teams, and create scalable brand strategies that improve both conversion and brand experience.
Key responsibilities
- Shape strategy by linking client business challenges and brand strengths to creative ideas that lead to stronger work.
- Lead eCommerce strategy initiatives that combine brand experience with conversion-focused digital shopping journeys.
- Serve as a primary strategic partner for clients, understanding their needs and converting them into practical opportunities.
- Coach and develop junior strategists, helping them build stronger strategic judgment and brand thinking.
- Improve collaboration across channels and creative disciplines so strategy is applied consistently and effectively.
- Encourage a high level of strategic rigor and culture-led thinking across the team.
What the role requires
- Extensive experience developing strategies across multiple brands and creative disciplines, with a strong emphasis on eCommerce and digital retail.
- Comfort working with research and data, and the ability to turn insights into action.
- Strong understanding of brand positioning, identity, and consumer experience in digital commerce settings.
- Ability to analyze complex business and eCommerce challenges and translate them into scalable strategies that support conversion.
- Confidence mentoring others and setting the standard for communication and creative collaboration in fast-moving digital environments.
- Demonstrated success building long-term client relationships while delivering strategic work that supports both brand and performance goals.
- Familiarity with the digital commerce landscape, including marketplaces, DTC models, and omnichannel integration.
Nice to have
- Experience contributing to thought leadership through speaking, publications, or similar industry visibility.
- Background in cross-cultural brand strategy for global or multinational clients.
