Role overview
Cornwall Council is seeking a Get2gether Worker to help coordinate and deliver contact sessions for children, young people and their families. The service operates across three teams in Cornwall and works closely with partner agencies, social workers and other professionals to support agreed outcomes for families.
Service setting
Get2gether sessions are usually held in dedicated buildings, although they may also take place in community venues such as Family Hubs. The teams are area-based, so regular travel across the local region is part of the job.
Main purpose of the role
You will support children from birth to 16 years old to have safe, positive time with parents and other important relatives or significant adults, either in a secure setting or in the community depending on family needs. The role also involves observing interactions, helping with parenting support, and modelling play.
Working arrangements
This is a permanent position for 37 hours per week in the West area. Hours can vary depending on service demand, and flexibility is required. The post includes a rota involving Saturdays on a one-in-three basis. The job may also involve driving to different locations and transporting some children to and from sessions.
Professional expectations
You will work alongside colleagues under the direction of the area Get2gether Co-Ordinator, contributing to a shared plan for each family. Your observations will support social work reports, interventions and parenting assessments, including material that may be used in court.
Required checks and legal notice
This post requires an enhanced Disclosure and Barred List check and an enhanced criminal record disclosure. As a public-facing role, the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
