Overview
Amey is recruiting an on-site General Handy Person for HMP Lincoln. This role sits within support for His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), helping maintain safe, clean, and efficient prison facilities.
The post is a 39-hour-per-week position working across seven days in a weekend shift pattern. You will be required to work one in three weekends on a rota basis, and this attracts an extra allowance equal to 15% of basic salary. The annual salary for the role is £27,426.
Role purpose
The General Handy Person supports planned and reactive maintenance activity inside the prison, making sure work is completed safely, compliantly, and within required timeframes.
Key duties
- Work with the wider team to carry out general maintenance tasks and support tradespeople on site.
- Undertake a range of facilities management duties as assigned by the team manager.
- Help maintain strong health and safety standards across the contract.
- Support local and wider net zero initiatives by contributing to sustainability objectives.
What you need
- Practical experience in DIY or general building maintenance.
- A CITB-recognised qualification or an equivalent certificate.
- A willingness to learn and develop new abilities.
- Good teamwork and collaboration skills.
Security and clearance
Prison Security Clearance is required for this position. Amey will support the successful candidate through that process.
