General Manager Supply Chain

About the Role

The General Manager of Supply Chain for Inghams is a key senior leadership position focusing on transport and warehousing. This role is crucial in delivering safe, efficient, and cost-effective supply chain solutions to support the company and its customers. The position can be based either at the Macquarie Park corporate office or near one of Inghams' Distribution Centres in Queensland (Lytton), Victoria (Truganina), or South Australia (Edinburgh Parks).

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor Distribution Centre Managers and the National Weigh Label Room Manager across Australia.
• Maintain compliance with safety, regulatory, and customer standards at all operational facilities.
• Oversee efficient operation within budget constraints while ensuring required Customer Service Levels (CSL) are met.
• Guide and support the Transport Team, including those in Procurement, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance for all transport providers and internal COR standards.
• Conduct performance and compliance reviews regularly of transport suppliers.
• Strategically direct commercial transport contracts and negotiation processes.
• Hold full Profit & Loss accountability for the Supply Chain budget.
• Develop and manage an annual operational budget aligned with customer service level goals.
• Strategically manage the national distribution network to provide cost-efficient solutions.

Candidate Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business, Economics, or a related discipline; a Master of Business Administration or equivalent postgraduate qualification is highly preferred.
• Between 5 to 15 years of advanced leadership experience in operations, logistics, or general management roles.
• Demonstrated success working in short shelf-life FMCG sectors, food manufacturing, agribusiness, or similar industrial fields.
• Proven expertise managing complex, nationwide supply chains serving multiple customers across diverse industries.
• Experience building and leading high-performing, geographically dispersed operational teams.
• Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking capabilities to interpret complex data effectively.
• Proven leadership and influencing skills within matrix organizations.
• Extensive program, change, and transformation management expertise coupled with strategic execution ability.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, including interaction at the C-suite level.
• Knowledge and experience operating within highly unionized workforces under multiple enterprise agreements.
• Advanced knowledge of supply chain frameworks, business case preparation, and performance measurement.
• Highly skilled in data visualization, business intelligence tools, and strategic modeling techniques.
• Familiarity with the transportation regulatory landscape in the Australian industry.
• Proficiency in program management software and strategic planning methods.
• Experienced in scenario planning, strategic foresight, and risk assessment methodologies.
• Capable of maintaining mental resilience in a demanding 24/7/365 operational environment.
• Leads by example, embodying and promoting core organizational values visibly and passionately.
• Demonstrates an empathetic, yet balanced leadership style toward direct reports and team members.
• Upholds high ethical standards in dealings with external suppliers.
