Role Overview
This rare leadership opportunity arises following an internal promotion, inviting a dynamic individual to steer one of New Zealand's premier tourism attractions through its next chapter. Skyline Rotorua, a well-established multi-million-dollar enterprise, attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually and operates with a large, varied, seasonal workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct overall commercial and operational success of the Rotorua business unit.
- Collaborate extensively with the wider Skyline Group, utilizing enterprise expertise and support systems to maximize Rotorua's outcomes.
- Build and lead a high-performing, empowered management team.
- Drive revenue growth while managing financial health, productivity, and cost efficiency.
- Ensure operational readiness and seamless integration of upcoming attractions and developments.
- Foster a culture prioritizing safety, wellbeing, and accountability.
- Deliver outstanding guest experiences within the diverse tourism operation.
- Champion continuous improvement and innovation across all business areas.
- Develop and maintain robust relationships with tourism partners, community, iwi, and regional stakeholders.
- Promote a workplace where staff development, trust, and ownership are encouraged and valued.
Candidate Profile
We welcome applicants from varied backgrounds, especially those who are collaborative and commercially savvy leaders adept at operating within larger enterprises. Candidates should excel at leading independently, leveraging expert resources, uniting teams around shared objectives, and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
Although experience in tourism, attractions, hospitality, hotels, leisure, or related customer-focused fields is beneficial, mastery of operational technicalities from the start is not required.
Key qualifications include:
- Proven leadership of large teams and intricate business structures.
- Extensive commercial oversight including P&L accountability.
- Demonstrable success in enhancing business performance and nurturing talent.
