Functional Business Analyst – Insurance & Reinsurance

About the Role

We are seeking a Functional Business Analyst with significant expertise in the Insurance and Reinsurance (Specialty) sector. The position involves collaborating closely with business stakeholders, Product Owners, and cross-functional teams to understand and translate business needs into precise functional specifications. Serving as the vital link between business units and delivery teams, the analyst ensures requirements are accurately captured and aligned with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with Product Owners and business users to collect, analyze, and document detailed business requirements.
• Facilitate requirement elicitation sessions such as workshops and stakeholder interviews to gather information.
• Create comprehensive documentation including Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs), user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Analyze and document current ("As-Is") and desired future ("To-Be") business processes to identify improvements.
• Act as a communication conduit between business stakeholders and development/testing teams, clarifying requirements as needed.
• Engage actively in Agile ceremonies like backlog refinement, sprint planning, and requirement clarification.
• Support User Acceptance Testing by preparing related test scenarios, coordinating business validations, and obtaining approvals from stakeholders.
• Assist in change management initiatives, impact assessments, and recommending process enhancements.
• Ensure all functional documentation is thorough, accurate, and aligns with the identified business objectives.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in business analysis and requirement gathering.
• In-depth understanding of the Insurance and Reinsurance (Specialty) domain.
• Skilled at producing BRDs, FRDs, user stories, use cases, and functional specs.
• Ability to comprehend business workflows and suggest process upgrades.
• Experience partnering with Product Owners and business stakeholders effectively.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proven experience working in Agile/Scrum project environments.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to policy administration, underwriting, claims, or reinsurance operations.
• Knowledge of Agile frameworks and practices.
• Experience in supporting User Acceptance Testing and preparing business process documentation.
• Familiar with tools such as Jira and Confluence.
