About the Role
Join Comfort Keepers as a dedicated housekeeper providing compassionate non-medical in-home support aimed at enhancing clients' comfort, safety, and general wellbeing. This role involves companionship, supervision, and home management services tailored to support individuals in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly living environment.
Qualifications
- Completion of high school diploma is mandatory.
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid required and must be maintained.
- Successful completion and annual renewal of Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check.
- Fulfillment of background screening including criminal record check, vehicle driving history if applicable, professional and personal references, and readiness to comply with random drug and alcohol testing.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and automobile insurance if driving is necessary during assignments.
- Reliable personal transportation for work-related travel.
- Completion of Comfort Keepers’ training and orientation programs.
- Strong commitment to adhering to Comfort Keepers' policies and procedures and ability to work independently in clients’ homes.
- Good verbal and written communication skills for following instructions and documenting services.
- High moral integrity and genuine commitment to helping others.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend to clients’ non-medical needs based on specified care plans.
- Offer companionship through conversation, reading, social and emotional support, stimulating mental alertness with enjoyable activities, and fostering emotional wellbeing.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety at clients’ residence, performing light household chores such as vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, mopping, cleaning bathrooms, and laundering linens and clothing.
- Assist in meal preparation and serving when directed, ensuring kitchen cleanliness following meals.
- Help clients with communication tasks including phone calls and letter writing; accompany clients on walks and community outings.
- Support clients in managing self-administered medication adherence per medication policy.
- Monitor and promptly report any mental, physical, or environmental changes to supervisors.
- Establish and sustain professional, effective communication with clients, families, and colleagues.
- Participate in continued education, staff meetings, and client discussions as requested.
- Timely completion and submission of service documentation.
- Operate equipment and use supplies safely and appropriately.
- Maintain confidentiality of client information at all times.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
This role requires working in clients' homes and travel by automobile. Exposure risks include contact with blood or bodily fluids which may carry infections.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent physical activities such as driving, assisting clients, and performing light housekeeping.
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, talk, and hear regularly.
- Capability to reach and lift items weighing up to 12 kg (25 lbs).
- Manual dexterity and strength in both hands essential.
Compensation
Starting wage: 20.00 CAD per hour.
