Experienced Casual Baristas – Christchurch

About the Role

Join some of the top cafés and hospitality venues in Christchurch by becoming part of an experienced casual barista workforce. This role involves providing high-quality coffee and exceptional customer service in dynamic, busy café and hospitality settings across the city.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Consistently prepare excellent espresso-based coffee beverages.
• Texture milk skillfully to create a variety of café drinks including latte art.
• Deliver friendly, professional customer service and engage with patrons effectively.
• Take customer orders and manage POS and till systems accurately.
• Handle cash and electronic payment transactions securely.
• Prepare cabinet foods and light meals when needed.
• Restock café supplies and arrange displays to maintain an appealing environment.
• Keep the coffee station clean, organized, and efficient at all times.
• Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations strictly.
• Support team members during peak service periods.
• Perform general front- and back-of-house duties as required.

Candidate Requirements

• Prior barista experience within a busy café environment is essential.
• Strong skills in producing consistent, quality espresso-based drinks.
• Experience with milk texturing and creating latte art is highly favourable.
• Competent in operating POS or till systems and handling financial transactions.
• Excellent communication skills and commitment to high-level customer service.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced settings.
• Flexible availability including weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
• Reliable transportation means.
• Valid New Zealand work authorization, such as citizenship, residency, or a valid work visa.
