Environmental Services Technician - Evening Shift

About the Role

Join Wellstar Health System as an Environmental Services Technician working the evening shift in Grovetown, GA. This pivotal position involves comprehensive cleaning duties including regular, terminal, and isolation room sanitation within hospital specialty areas such as Operating Room Suites, CATH Labs, GI Labs, VARU, Pharmacy Compounding Lab, Vascular, and Labor and Delivery Suites. The role demands strict adherence to cleaning protocols and safety compliance to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct complete restroom and patient room cleaning following different protocols depending on room type, including regular, terminal, and isolation cleanings.
• Understand and apply infection prevention procedures, selecting appropriate cleaning chemicals for each task.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks on walls, doors, glass, furniture, equipment, and floors, including dust and wet mopping, and cleaning corners and edges.
• Handle disposal of various waste streams such as solid waste, bio-hazard, chemotherapy, and pharmaceutical waste accurately and according to guidelines.
• Consistently wear and correctly use personal protective equipment to safeguard personal and others' health.
• Use proper lifting techniques to prevent injury.
• Operate Ultra Violet Light equipment safely as per established protocols.
• Replace liners in waste containers correctly, ensuring the proper type, size, and secure tying.
• Maintain daily documentation of assignments and adapt to coverage needs during staff shortages using the Epic system.

Qualifications and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not mandatory.
• Fluent English language skills with ability to read, write, and comprehend simple English instructions.
• Completion of the departmental training program within 30 days of hire is required.
