Employment Coach

Role overview

This full-time permanent position is based in Woodridge, Queensland, with Workways Australia. The role focuses on helping customers become job ready, move into suitable work, and sustain employment over time. It combines customer service, coaching, job matching, and practical support to remove both employment and non-employment barriers.

Key duties

• Help participants understand program obligations and what is expected of them while they engage in work preparation or employment-related activity.
• Assess barriers that may affect a customer’s job prospects and organise the right support to improve readiness for work.
• Support confidence-building, self-esteem, and access to vocational and non-vocational services, site-based activities, and job matching.
• Plan and run group sessions that strengthen non-vocational skills and help customers improve their job search capability.
• Maintain working relationships with community organisations so customers receive coordinated, holistic support.
• Regularly review customer needs and adjust support to match their individual situation.
• Make reverse marketing calls to employers to help place participants into jobs.

About you

You are community-minded, outcome-focused, and motivated by helping people access better opportunities. You bring strong communication and interpersonal skills, can work with a variety of stakeholders, and are comfortable facilitating small groups. You also work well in a contract-compliant environment and are confident using Windows and the Microsoft Office suite.

Requirements and conditions

• Strong customer service capability and a professional approach to support work.
• Ability to negotiate, consult, and liaise effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
• Comfort in delivering group-based support sessions.
• Competence with standard computer applications, including Windows and MS Office.
• Understanding of contractual compliance requirements.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in employment services or a similar field may be held.
• A current driver licence is required.
• Successful candidates must be willing to complete a satisfactory Police Check and Working with Children Card / WWVC / WWCC / Blue Card, as applicable to the state or territory.
