Role Overview
The Director of Operations role, based on-site in Grand Rapids, MI, entails leading the daily plant operations to ensure safe, efficient, and superior production outputs in sheet metal and tube processing. The position requires managing operational planning, resource distribution, and workflow optimization to fulfill customer demand while achieving quality, cost, and delivery goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and streamline all aspects of plant operations, from production to quality assurance.
- Develop and guide operations teams, establishing clear performance standards and nurturing a culture of continuous enhancement.
- Collaborate effectively with engineering, finance, sales, and customer service teams to resolve production challenges and sustain customer relations.
- Monitor operational KPIs rigorously to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Manage budgets, control costs, and forecast operational needs to support strategic growth.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Extensive experience in operations management with competencies in production planning, process enhancement, and performance tracking.
- Strong analytical skills capable of interpreting data and utilizing KPIs for informed decision-making.
- Proven leadership in managing cross-functional teams and talent development within manufacturing or industrial contexts.
- Expertise in budgeting, cost management, and overseeing resource allocation and operational forecasting.
- Commitment to delivering excellent customer service and maintaining effective communications with stakeholders.
- Preferably experience in metal fabrication or related manufacturing industries.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement practices, and adherence to safety regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities with a requirement to work on-site in Grand Rapids, MI.
