Digital Content Specialist

About the Role

The Library and Learning Commons Department at Zayed University seeks a Digital Content Specialist dedicated to managing technical production, maintenance, and user support for digital platforms. This role emphasizes integrating emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and web services, supporting digital initiatives from planning through deployment and maintenance, and ensuring stable and functional library digital environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain web applications and tools enhancing library content delivery and operations.
• Create and implement scripts or applications (e.g., Python, R) to automate tasks, improve metadata, and enhance user interaction.
• Manage digital projects throughout the development lifecycle, meeting set milestones for development, testing, and launch.
• Evaluate and recommend open-source or commercial digital solutions for library innovation.
• Support the coding, testing, and updating of AI-based tools such as chatbots and automated service points.
• Collaborate with librarians to utilize AI for resource discovery, metadata improvement, and collection development.
• Maintain and troubleshoot immersive technologies (VR, AR, interactive displays) for academic use.
• Produce and edit multimedia educational materials including videos, audio, and interactive modules supporting library literacy instruction.
• Create user-friendly documentation for new digital tools and conduct technical training workshops for faculty and students.
• Maintain digital content with proper version control, security, and accessibility per institutional policies.
• Analyze platform usage data to drive service improvements; conduct usability tests and recommend technical enhancements.
• Develop APIs and integration between library and external systems, ensuring compliance with accessibility and Universal Design standards.
• Contribute to public services, workshops, library programming, committees, and supervise student workers.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Digital Media, or Library Science. Candidates without a Library Science degree must show equivalent library or academic environment experience.
• Between 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in digital content management, library systems, web application support, or emerging technology deployment.
• Proven background in library operations, information organization, or higher education technology support.
• Preferred experience with Generative AI tools (LLMs), prompt engineering, or immersive technologies like VR and AR.
• Strong programming skills in Python; knowledgeable in API integration and data handling.
• Proficiency in web technologies including HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and XML.
• Experience with multimedia production software such as Adobe Premiere and Camtasia.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot hardware such as VR headsets, tablets, and interactive displays.
• Desirable bilingual proficiency in Arabic and English.
