About the Role
Join Pegasus Health in Christchurch as a Development Team Lead to unify and guide multiple development and testing teams focused on three principal business systems amid a major technological transformation. This senior, permanent position blends leadership and hands-on technical involvement to enhance engineering practices, delivery quality, and explore practical AI implementations to advance healthcare digital products across New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead several development teams and a centralised testing team through team leads, ensuring coordination and performance.
- Offer strong technical leadership, overseeing delivery, quality standards, and team results.
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, and other stakeholders to prioritize and execute workstreams effectively.
- Manage project lifecycles, including delivery, releases, operational support, and continuous improvements.
- Mentor and develop team leaders to foster a high-performing engineering culture.
- Enhance development methodologies, delivery workflows, and software quality organization-wide.
- Identify and implement practical AI applications to optimize systems and work processes.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated leadership of software development teams, managing subordinate team leads.
- Robust technical expertise to steer engineering direction and delivery.
- Commercially experienced in deploying AI to improve systems, processes, or software delivery outcomes.
- Background in managing and supporting critical business applications.
- Familiarity with software development life cycles, release management, testing protocols, and contemporary engineering best practices.
- Adept at engaging senior leadership and managing complex prioritization.
- Effective communicator capable of challenging ideas and navigating difficult discussions professionally.
- Hands-on leadership with a focus on coaching and managing team performance.
- Relevant tertiary education in IT, Software Engineering, Computer Science or comparable experience.
Additional Requirements
- Must be based in Christchurch and able to work predominantly onsite.
- Eligibility to legally work in New Zealand.
