Overview

Sunrise Brands seeks a skilled and detail-focused Designer to join their creative team in New York City. This full-time, onsite role involves managing multiple projects and collaborating with various departments to create compelling fashion designs. Ideal candidates will have a strong portfolio, innovative thinking, and the ability to communicate visually and effectively.

Key Objectives

• Create visual design concepts using tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Procreate, and Google Slides.
• Integrate branding, marketing, and communication strategies into designs and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Accurately prepare tech packs for prototype and sales samples based on line sheets and fabric charts.
• Oversee the handoff of tech packs post-purchase approval.
• Deliver design projects punctually in a fast-paced environment.
• Understand and adhere to calendar deadlines, demonstrating commitment to achieving goals.
• Effectively communicate with directors, product development teams, technical staff, art departments, and international partners.

Primary Responsibilities

• Sketch and develop line sheets while maintaining all necessary updates.
• Maintain fabric charts and detailed fabric documentation.
• Prioritize and act on feedback from design meetings.
• Coordinate with the director on communications with Hong Kong partners, resolving issues or addressing needs.
• Review samples collaboratively with the director and product development teams before submitting to overseas factories.
• Keep the office organized to ensure easy access to materials and collection submissions.
• Prepare racks and samples for showroom line reviews and market week presentations.
• Work closely with the Art Department to develop prints and embellishments.
• Manage design handoffs to technical and production teams.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proven professional portfolio showcasing high-quality projects.
• Strong foundation in design principles along with knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, and trims.
• Experience using PLM systems and proficient in tech pack creation.
• Critical thinking skills and effective communication abilities, with strong time management to meet deadlines.
• Background in ready-to-wear or contemporary fashion collections; denim design experience is advantageous.
• Bachelor’s or associate degree in design or a related artistic field.
• At least five years of professional design experience.
• Certification or formal training in relevant design software.
