Design Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a Design Engineer specialized in plastic trims for passenger vehicles to join our team in Mysore, Karnataka. The position involves creating and developing plastic components such as bumpers, tailgates, lighting, body claddings, interior trims, instrument panels, and floor consoles for global automotive clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop plastic trim components for various vehicle perimeters including bumpers, tailgates, lighting, and interior parts.
• Engage with client engineering teams to understand their requirements and independently execute design tasks with minimal supervision.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure timely deliverable submissions and take part in design reviews and meetings to meet program objectives.
• Lead and supervise a small team of 2-3 engineers for assigned perimeters or programs.
• Communicate effectively with onsite engineers and clients to clearly grasp project requirements.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering.
• 3 to 9 years of experience in plastic product design within the automotive sector.
• Proficiency with product design tools including CATIA V5, NX, Teamcenter, and Windchill.
• Comprehensive understanding of the new product development (NPD) process, plastics materials, and manufacturing procedures.
• Strong knowledge of plastics design principles and tooling fundamentals.
• Familiarity with automotive safety standards such as ECE and FMVSS is preferred.
• Ability to conduct regulatory compliance checks related to passenger and pedestrian safety (ECE-26).
• Experience in assembly management and creating OEM drawings is advantageous.
• Comfortable working with European or American clients and adapting to diverse cultural environments.
• Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills.
