Role Overview

This position is offered on behalf of a partner organization seeking a Data Conversion Specialist located in Canada. Working remotely, you will play a crucial role in supporting client projects by accurately transforming complex datasets from diverse systems into reliable formats. Your responsibilities will span analyzing business and data requirements, crafting conversion strategies, and ensuring seamless data migration for software implementations.

Key Responsibilities

Execute data conversions during new client system deployments and assist with additional data-related tasks for existing clients.
Examine business rules, data architectures, and client needs to establish effective conversion strategies.
Collaborate closely with clients to clarify data conversion requirements, address challenges, and meet project deadlines.
Develop data mapping documentation, provide project estimates, and prepare conversion-focused materials.
Engage in defining project scope and support planning efforts for implementation activities.
Create efficient, accurate, and reusable data conversion scripts.
Acquire in-depth knowledge of the software’s functionality, data models, and system standards to ensure quality deliverables.
Coordinate with Project Managers and implementation teams to track schedules, identify potential risks, and facilitate project success.
Handle multiple projects simultaneously by adhering to established workflows and suggesting enhancements as needed.
Stay current with industry standards, technical tools, and methodologies related to data conversion.
Partner with technical support to deploy tested and approved data conversions in testing and production phases.
Deliver excellent client service throughout the implementation lifecycle.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Proficient in MS SQL, capable of developing complex queries and data conversion scripts.
Hands-on experience with databases, data transformation, and migration processes.
Ability to translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and fix data issues.
Excellent organizational abilities with the capacity to manage deadlines and multiple tasks.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and a client-oriented approach.
Capable of thriving in fast-paced environments and managing project-related pressures.
Proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership over problems and solutions.
Familiarity with MS SQL Reporting Services or similar reporting tools is a plus.
Experience with ESRI ArcGIS or comparable geographic information systems is beneficial.
Exposure to local government software or equivalent enterprise applications is advantageous.
