Customer Delivery Driver - Durham Extra

Role Overview

Working as a Customer Delivery Driver, you will represent Tesco on the road, delivering orders directly to customers' homes. The position involves much more than just driving; it’s about providing excellent service with enthusiasm, ensuring customers have a positive experience. Each shift is varied and physically engaging, requiring you to work independently during deliveries while supported by managers and teammates at the store base as needed.

Work Schedule

• Sunday: 1:00 PM - 11:00 PM
• Tuesday: 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM
• Friday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
• Saturday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of your van, trays, and workspace to ensure products reach customers in excellent condition.
• Safely load the delivery van and perform all necessary checks to guarantee it is roadworthy and ready for service.
• Communicate proactively with customers regarding any order modifications, substitutions, or perishable items, offering refunds when appropriate to ensure a smooth experience.
• Handle all products carefully, treating every delivery with care to uphold quality and customer trust.
• Deliver within allocated timeframes, greeting customers warmly and leaving them feeling valued and well-served.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Build positive working relationships with colleagues to foster team spirit and deliver excellent customer service.
• Be friendly and approachable to both customers and teammates.
• Adapt quickly to evolving customer requirements and embrace changes while performing duties on the road and at the store.
• Possess a valid UK, EU, or EEA driving license (full or automatic) held for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.

Compensation and Benefits

• Starting pay at £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 per hour within stores located inside the M25; some sites may offer additional payments.
• Guaranteed minimum of 16 weekly hours, with positions also available starting from 12 hours per week.
• Holiday entitlement beginning at 20 days plus one personal day, increasing to 22 days after 12 months of service, alongside statutory Bank Holidays.
