Overview

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is seeking individuals to join its dedicated Custodial Services team. The primary aim is to deliver exceptional cleaning and maintenance services across campus facilities to support students, staff, and visitors. Employment is regular full-time with a mandatory six-month probationary period and on-the-job training provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning tasks and upkeep in assigned areas aligned with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WI), and customer and supervisor feedback.
• Maintain custodial equipment and supply areas in clean, organized condition ensuring stock availability.
• Collaborate effectively with campus users, team members, and supervisors to ensure quality service.
• Champion workplace safety by adhering to campus policies and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Secure and monitor facility entrances and report all issues promptly.
• Ensure walkways are clear of debris, litter, snow, and ice to maintain safe access.
• Utilize cleaning equipment and manage waste disposal effectively.
• Document and communicate repair needs, violations, and pest control concerns.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Capability to understand and follow SOPs and WI, including knowledge about cleaning products and their applications.
• Basic computer skills for online forms, communications, and email use.
• Ability to stand and walk throughout an 8-hour shift, lift/push/pull 40-75 pounds, perform overhead work, climb ladders, and use a hand-held radio for communication.
• Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Preferred: Prior experience in custodial cleaning, advanced knowledge of floor care (carpet and hard floors), and commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Additional Information

• Facilities Management oversees campus operations including 29 buildings and extensive land area.
• The total compensation package is estimated at $60,293 annually, with a starting salary of $33,280.
• Flexible shift availability including primary shift Monday-Friday 3:30 PM to midnight, with other shifts possible, including part-time work subject to operational needs.
