Job description
About the Role
Systems engineering is a multidisciplinary technical field focused on an approach, mindset, and process that integrates business and technical customer requirements to deliver quality products that meet user needs. It involves establishing robust processes for designing, developing, and optimizing systems—starting from identification and quantification of requirements, generating alternative designs, conducting trade-off studies, choosing and implementing the best solutions, to ensuring proper integration and operation, covering all phases from concept through production to operation.
The Control & Protection Design Engineer will be responsible for planning and executing departmental operations or concentrating on professional technical tasks within a discipline. The role features a certain degree of autonomy but is guided by established policies or final result reviews. It permits modifications of workflows and practices as long as results meet acceptance criteria such as quality, scope, and timeliness.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, evaluate, implement, and manage engineering solutions addressing product and control system technology requirements.
- Apply control theory and mathematical modeling to design and control systems to achieve desired behaviors, including operability, limit setting, cycle optimization, control logic, control software, sensors, hardware/software algorithms, and feedback control of device, subsystem, and system performance.
- Leverage deep knowledge of a technical discipline along with analytical thinking and experience to apply policies and strategies.
- Possess awareness of best practices, understanding of integration with other areas, and knowledge of competitive and market differentiating factors.
- Exercise judgment and propose solutions beyond defined parameters to manage complex manufacturing processes involving technical diversity and interdependent production cycles, using technical experience and analytical thinking, while consulting a variety of internal and limited external sources.
- Serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues and potentially lead small, low-risk projects with minimal resource needs.
- Communicate information clearly, develop team skills to achieve consensus, set performance expectations, and handle confidential matters.
Qualifications
- Advanced experience required comparable to a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, or a high school diploma with relevant experience.
Desired Attributes
- Excellent oral and written communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.
- Capability to influence others and lead small teams.
- Experience in managing moderate-scale initiatives and multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong problem identification and resolution skills.
- Proven analytical and organizational competence.
Additional Information
- This position is fully remote.
- Relocation assistance is not provided.
