Overview
The Department of Education, Western Australia, is hiring a permanent full-time Cleaner based in Esperance. The position requires starting as soon as possible. The successful candidate will join the Goldfields Regional Education Office and will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards of school facilities in line with departmental policies and occupational health and safety guidelines.
Role and Duties
This role involves independently performing internal cleaning tasks such as carpet and hard floor maintenance, cleaning toilets, furniture, fittings, windows, dusting, and rubbish disposal. External cleaning duties include cleaning verandas, covered spaces, drinking troughs, window washing, removing cobwebs, and general upkeep.
The Cleaner will also collaborate closely with the Manager Corporate Services to ensure cleaning activities align with department protocols, receiving guidance and support concerning cleaning operations. Monthly cleaning inspections will be carried out jointly with the Manager Corporate Services.

Eligibility Criteria
- Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or hold a valid visa with appropriate work authorization for the role duration.
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a clearance number prior to commencing employment.
- Hold or acquire a valid Working with Children Check.

- Familiarity with operating cleaning equipment such as polishers, vacuum cleaners, and pressure cleaners.
- Experience in safely handling and storing cleaning materials, chemicals, and equipment.
- Demonstrated initiative and strong organizational abilities.
