This permanent position is within the Energy Infrastructure team delivering Transmission & Distribution (T&D) projects. It involves civil engineering design for substations, cabling routes, and related infrastructure supporting renewable energy sources such as offshore and onshore wind, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), solar power, and electricity networks across Ireland and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and support civil infrastructure elements for electricity transmission and distribution projects.
• Engage in underground cable route development, corridor studies, and alignment planning.
• Assist in substation civil design including site layout, earthworks, drainage, access, and structural integration.
• Contribute to renewable energy civil engineering for grid connections and onshore works linked to offshore wind initiatives.
• Define and manage assigned design scopes and deliverables to meet project objectives.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, mechanical, environmental, and planning specialists to provide integrated solutions.
• Prepare design outputs such as drawings, reports, specifications, and calculations.
• Ensure project deliverables comply with quality, budget, and timeline requirements.
• Plan workload effectively with quality assurance and team coordination.
• Deliver designs adhering to relevant standards, safety protocols, and client specifications.

Candidate Profile

• A Bachelor's degree (Level 8 or higher) in Civil Engineering or similar field.
• Approximately 3 to 5 years of post-qualification experience, mainly in civil design within consultancy or equivalent environments.
• Membership in a relevant professional engineering body.
• Proven civil infrastructure design experience, preferably related to electricity transmission/distribution or similar linear infrastructure.
• Familiarity with Transmission System Operators (TSOs) or Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) standards and processes is beneficial.
• Experience with underground utilities, cable trenching, ducting, protection, and reinstatement techniques.
• Competence in site layout design including earthworks, drainage, road access, and hardstandings.
• Proficiency in design software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and/or Revit.
• Experience operating in multidisciplinary and BIM-coordinated environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to work effectively within teams.
