Installation Made Easy, Inc. (IME) is a software and process management company that helps retailers and contractors deliver installed home improvement services to homeowners in a way that is simple, consistent, and cost-effective. The organization is led by senior managers with more than 100 years of combined experience in retail management and the home improvement sector.

The Chief Technology Officer will serve as a senior executive accountable for shaping IME’s technology direction, setting the roadmap, and turning strategy into execution. This person will oversee software engineering, infrastructure, data, cybersecurity, and innovation while keeping technology aligned with company objectives and long-term growth.

Working with the CEO, CFO, departmental vice presidents, and other business leaders, the CTO will help build scalable, secure, high-performance solutions. The role also includes guiding platform evolution, modernizing legacy systems when needed, and building a strong remote-first engineering culture.

Essential functions

• Set the long-range technology strategy and make sure it supports business priorities and growth plans.
• Provide executive oversight for engineering, architecture, infrastructure, and data-related programs.
• Lead and coach a distributed group of engineering leaders, developers, and outside partners.
• Define and uphold standards for development practices, system design, security, and scalability.
• Work with business teams to convert strategic goals into practical technology roadmaps and solutions.
• Drive modernization efforts, including cloud adoption, platform improvement, and reduction of technical debt.
• Maintain strong system uptime, speed, and security across all applications and technology assets.
• Assess and introduce new technologies that can strengthen competitive positioning.
• Own technology budgeting, vendor management, and allocation of engineering resources.
• Guide the organization’s data approach, analytics capabilities, and business intelligence alignment.
• Create and track KPIs and other measures to understand technical performance and business value.
• Promote innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement in a remote work environment.
• Ensure adherence to privacy, regulatory, and cybersecurity requirements.
• Collaborate across Product, Operations, Finance, and Business Development teams.
• Provide technical due diligence support for partnership opportunities when needed.
• Handle other assigned duties as required.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should bring deep technology leadership experience, modern and legacy systems expertise, and the ability to connect technical decisions to business outcomes.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 15 years of experience in software development and technology leadership.
• At least 10 years of experience leading engineering teams, including senior leaders.
• Proven background in SaaS, enterprise software, or multi-tenant systems.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft technologies such as .NET, SQL Server, and Azure.
• Advanced working knowledge of Classic ASP.
• Experience with C# .NET on MVC Framework and Entity Framework.
• Strong command of modern architecture patterns such as cloud-native systems, microservices, and APIs.
• Prior executive leadership experience at the C-level or VP level.
• Experience modernizing legacy platforms, including moving Classic ASP applications to newer frameworks.
• History of scaling technology platforms and teams in fast-growing organizations.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity, data governance, and compliance frameworks.
• Experience managing remote and globally distributed teams.
• Solid business judgment with the ability to align technology with revenue and operational goals.

Preferred qualifications

• Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Experience in retail, home improvement, marketplace platforms, or partner ecosystem environments.
