Overview
West Fraser invites dedicated individuals to join our team at the Williams Lake Plywood Division as a Log Scaler - Weighmaster. We offer a challenging and rewarding career opportunity with options for professional growth within our core business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct log scaling and evaluate log quality under various weather conditions.
- Perform weighmaster duties including stratification of logs.
- Contribute to maintaining log yard inventory accuracy and participate in waste and residue field surveys.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned, such as handling purchase wood and operating loaders.
Candidate Requirements
- Possession of a valid BC Scaling License is mandatory.
- Proactive, self-driven, and able to work well in team environments.
- Strong commitment to maintaining safety standards.
- Class 5 driving license required.
- Interest in career development and advancement within various areas of forestry operations.
Work Location
The position is based in Williams Lake, British Columbia, located in the heart of the Cariboo region, roughly 545 km northeast of Vancouver. Williams Lake provides an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities with its beautiful lake and natural areas, alongside a vibrant economy supported by forestry, mining, and transportation industries. The city offers good educational facilities and hosts notable events such as the annual Williams Lake Stampede.
