Role Overview

The Business Technology Operations Manager will lead operational performance at Voltin while also driving the design, delivery, and rollout of technology systems that support the company’s evolution into a global building intelligence platform. Reporting to the Managing Director, this position spans operations, technology, product development, commercial delivery, and strategic execution.

Business Operations

You will be accountable for the company’s daily operations, making sure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Working with the Directors, you will strengthen performance through planning, resource allocation, financial control, and risk management. You will also create useful performance measures, track business results, and put in place reporting frameworks that give clear visibility into operational performance and growth.

Technology Development

At the interface of engineering and technology, you will coordinate the build and enhancement of Voltin’s software and digital platforms. In partnership with developers, engineers, and external technology providers, you will contribute to the product roadmap, manage testing and releases, and ensure new technologies are successfully embedded into the business. The emphasis will be on delivering reliable and scalable solutions that improve data quality, customer outcomes, and the company’s innovation edge.

Product Development and Innovation

Innovation is central to the role. You will help turn concepts into market-ready offerings by leading pilot programs, organising beta testing, collecting customer input, and setting priorities for new features. Working with engineering and research teams, you will support the ongoing development of the platform and contribute to research and development efforts that strengthen competitive advantage.

Strategic Implementation

This role is key to delivering Voltin’s 2026–2030 growth strategy. You will partner with the Directors to convert strategic goals into practical initiatives, manage major projects, support investment-related activities, and track progress against important milestones. Success will depend on your ability to execute strategy while maintaining strong operational discipline.

Commercial Delivery

You will work with commercial and technical teams to help secure new business and deepen existing client relationships. This may include assisting with proposals, delivering technology demonstrations, participating in client meetings and commercial discussions, and developing partnerships that increase market reach. You will represent the business with confidence, communicating both technical strengths and the long-term vision.

Leadership and Team Development

As part of the leadership group, you will motivate, mentor, and develop a strong-performing team. You will help build a collaborative and innovative workplace through recruitment, coaching, performance reviews, and professional development. Strengthening team capability and supporting the development of future leaders will be an important part of your contribution.

Systems, Quality, and Continuous Improvement

You will drive operational excellence by improving the systems that support consistent, high-quality delivery. This includes developing and maintaining standard operating procedures, supporting compliance with quality management systems and relevant ISO standards, improving documentation, and introducing workflow automation where practical. Your focus on continuous improvement will help build processes that can scale nationally and internationally.

Essential Background

The ideal applicant will hold a degree in Engineering, Technology, Computer Science, Construction Management, or a related field, along with at least 8 years of experience leading operational teams. Experience in technology implementation and project management, plus strong communication, leadership, and financial understanding, is highly desirable.

Preferred Experience

Voltin is looking for a leader who is comfortable discussing business strategy with directors, collaborating with software developers, and working with engineers and operations teams to deliver practical technology solutions. Experience in one or more of the following will be highly regarded: artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital twins, asset management systems, GIS, reality capture technologies, construction technology, robotics, drone operations, infrastructure or building engineering, and software product management.

Experience in Agile development environments is valued, as is familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS), business intelligence tools such as Power BI, project management tools such as Jira, and modern DevOps practices.
