Role Summary

The Business Development Manager is a full-time remote position stationed in India, supporting the Tasmania-based business operations. The candidate will undertake extensive market research, lead generation, partnership development, and engagement with stakeholders, coordinating closely with teams in Tasmania. This role necessitates independent work capability, adaptability to cross-cultural environments, and proficiency in communication and presentation to senior executives, with a need for overlap with Tasmania business hours.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth primary and secondary market research focusing on Tasmania and its Australian markets to detect trends, competition, opportunities, and regulatory landscapes.
  • Build and maintain a robust database of potential clients, partners, and government officials aligned with Tasmania initiatives.
  • Design and execute customized outreach strategies via email, LinkedIn, and phone to convert prospects into qualified leads.
  • Develop professional written materials such as proposals, briefs, capability statements, and presentation decks targeted at clients and partners.
  • Organize and support virtual/in-person meetings, webinars, and presentations involving Tasmanian stakeholders.
  • Manage CRM data, monitor engagement, and report on performance against predefined targets.
  • Collaborate with Tasmanian leadership to formulate go-to-market plans, pricing strategies, and partnership frameworks.
  • Assist with tender and grant preparations, including research, drafting, document administration, and timely submissions.
  • Track competitor activities, policy updates, and funding chances relevant to Tasmania.
  • Facilitate onboarding processes of new clients and partners ensuring smooth transitions to local Tasmania teams.

Research Responsibilities

  • Design and implement research plans outlining objectives, methods, durations, and deliverables.
  • Gather and analyze both qualitative and quantitative data from industry reports, surveys, interviews, and public sources.
  • Consolidate research findings into clear insights and actionable recommendations for business growth.
  • Produce regular market intelligence reports and occasional briefing notes for Tasmania leads.
  • Map key stakeholders including government bodies, industry groups, and potential customers.

Business Development Responsibilities

  • Develop and fine-tune value propositions and market positioning for the Tasmanian context.
  • Execute outreach and foster relationships to secure meetings, pilot programs, and partnership agreements.
  • Prepare tailored proposals, statements of work, and commercial offers for prospects.
  • Negotiate preliminary commercial terms alongside senior management and legal advisors as needed.
  • Support entire sales cycles from first contact through contract transfer to Tasmania delivery teams.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Public Policy, Marketing, or related disciplines; a Master's degree is advantageous.
  • 4 to 7 years of professional experience in market research, business development, sales, or consulting.
  • A history of successfully generating leads, closing deals, or assisting with bids and tenders.
  • Prior engagement with Australian clients or familiarity with Australian and Tasmanian markets is highly preferred.

Skills and Competencies

  • Advanced verbal communication skills for leading calls and delivering presentations.
  • Strong written communication capabilities for crafting proposals and executive summaries.
  • Proficiency in presentation design and delivery for senior and government audiences.
  • Expertise in research design, data synthesis, and actionable insight generation.
  • Medium proficiency with CRM and sales platforms like HubSpot or Salesforce.
  • Competence in data handling and visualization tools including Excel and Power BI.
  • Excellent time management and ability to collaborate remotely across time zones.
  • Capability to manage and nurture relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Communication and Presentation Expectations

The role demands exemplary spoken and written English, with polished presentation skills suited for senior leadership and government stakeholders. Demonstrable experience in delivering professional presentations and designing impactful slides is highly desirable.

  • Quantity of qualified leads generated quarterly based on agreed targets.
  • Conversion rates from lead to meeting, and meeting to proposal stages.
  • Quality and quantity of partnership meetings established with Tasmanian entities.

Work Environment and Logistics

  • Location: Remote position based in India, requiring reliable internet, quiet workspace, and appropriate tech for video conferencing.
  • Hours: Flexible scheduling with mandatory overlap in Tasmania business hours, potentially involving early morning or late evening shifts.
  • Travel: Occasional travel within India or to Tasmania depending on visa and budget constraints.
  • Reporting: This role reports to the Tasmania Country Lead or Head of Business Development.

Compensation and Contract Details

The salary range falls between 50,000 and 70,000 Indian Rupees monthly, commensurate with experience. The employment contract may be permanent or contractual. Notice period, probation duration (typically three months), and bonus structure will be finalized with the offer.
