Role overview
Pearson is looking for BTEC Examiners across a broad range of subject sectors. Current recruiting areas include Animal Care, Applied Science, Business, Construction, CPLD, Engineering, Equine Studies, Health and Social Care, Hospitality, Media, Music, Performing Arts, Public Services, and Travel & Tourism. There is also demand for examiners who can verify in Welsh across different sectors.
A BTEC Next Generation Examiner is responsible for assessing learner responses against the published mark scheme while following the Code of Practice and examination procedures. Most marking is completed onscreen through ePEN and can be done from home, although some subjects are still assessed using paper scripts that are sent by post. Each examiner is assigned an agreed set of scripts, and strong subject expertise is essential for applying the marking standards correctly.
Responsibilities
- Apply the mark scheme carefully and consistently so grading standards remain reliable.
- Send samples to the Team Leader at the required checkpoints.
- Keep marking progress aligned with the agreed deadlines and milestones.
- Complete all required administrative tasks accurately and on time.
Experience and qualifications
- At least one academic year of teaching experience is required.
- This teaching experience must be from the last 8 years.
- The experience must be in the relevant subject and level.
- The experience must have been gained after qualifying as a teacher.
- Applicants must be qualified teachers.
