Role Summary

The Bid Estimator is tasked with creating precise, competitive, and commercially sound cost estimates and tender documents for electrical compliance projects. This role contributes to business development by analyzing tender specifications, evaluating project risks, obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotes, and crafting detailed pricing proposals that align with company goals and client requirements. Collaboration with Operations, Commercial, Procurement, and Bid teams is essential to ensure compliant, profitable tenders submitted on time.

The successful candidate will take lead responsibility for the commercial bid preparation across electrical compliance, planned maintenance, and building contracts. Managing bids from initial assessment to final submission, the role demands delivering tenders that are commercially robust, technically compliant, and strategically positioned to enhance the company’s win rate.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive commercial preparation of bids for electrical compliance and building maintenance contracts.
• Analyze tender documents and project requirements critically to assess risks and opportunities.
• Sourcing, evaluating, and incorporating quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Ensure all bid submissions are aligned with company objectives, technically compliant, and commercially viable.
• Liaise closely with internal teams including Operations, Commercial, Procurement, and Bidding departments.
• Challenge assumptions and apply commercial judgment during the bid development process.
• Maintain deadlines and manage multiple simultaneous bid projects effectively.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience in Estimating, Bid Estimating, or Commercial roles within electrical, compliance, construction, or planned/reactive building sectors.
• Strong knowledge of electrical and building service compliance standards and related industry regulations.
• Demonstrable experience in preparing accurate cost estimates and tender documentation.
• Excellent numerical and data analysis capabilities.
• Robust commercial awareness and understanding of factors affecting project profitability.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and experienced in using estimating software tools.
• Outstanding organizational skills to handle multiple deadlines efficiently.
• Effective communication skills and ability to manage diverse stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Schedule of Rates (SOR) pricing models, including NHF or comparable frameworks.
