Aviation Safety Learning and Development Specialist

Overview

Qatar Airways invites applications for the role of Aviation Safety Learning and Development Specialist based in Doha, Qatar. This position is integral to the HR Group Learning and Development team, focusing on designing and enhancing aviation safety educational programs to meet regulatory standards and boost organizational safety performance throughout the Qatar Airways Group and its partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the effective implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS) by creating standardized aviation safety educational programs aligned with the SMS Policy Manual.
• Design, implement, and continuously update aviation safety training curricula according to ICAO SMS principles and regulatory guidelines, covering Safety Policy, Risk Management, Safety Assurance, and Safety Promotion.
• Develop and manage specialized safety training modules such as risk assessment, hazard identification, root cause analysis, safety investigations, change management, fatigue management, human factors, and safety reporting.
• Deliver interactive training sessions across classroom, blended, and digital platforms for aircrew, ground crew, and technical staff, applying adult education techniques and the 70:20:10 learning framework.
• Regularly evaluate and update training materials based on best global aviation safety practices, regulatory compliance, and instructional design methodologies.
• Analyze operational data and safety documentation to identify learner needs and enhance program efficacy.
• Work closely with safety and operational teams to ensure training aligns with business goals and risk management strategies.
• Act as a subject matter expert by providing coaching and tailored learning solutions to various business units.
• Promote a positive safety culture through workshops, briefings, and participation in safety initiatives.
• Maintain detailed records of certifications, training compliance, and quality standards.
• Utilize Learning Management Systems and support computer-based training development for scalable and compliant program delivery.
• Coordinate with safety teams to integrate training insights into organizational risk registers and safety monitoring.
• Standardize existing training programs across different sites to ensure uniform quality and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a high school diploma, vocational qualification, or diploma; OR at least 4 years of experience with a bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Accreditation as an aviation safety trainer from ICAO, IATA, or a recognized Civil Aviation Authority.
• Operational experience in aviation safety and demonstrable ability in delivering safety training.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Experience training diverse, multi-cultural groups.
• Strong instructional design and delivery capabilities.
• In-depth knowledge of aviation safety topics and practices.
