Job Summary
We seek an Assistant Principal for elementary education under the Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA) located in Stuttgart, Germany. This full-time onsite position involves overseeing educator performance, managing government property assigned to the school, analyzing student achievement data for school improvement, and facilitating communication between administration, students, teachers, families, and associated community and base offices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement educator performance criteria and evaluate teacher performance accordingly.
- Manage and be accountable for all government-owned or leased property at the school.
- Collect and analyze student achievement and related data to guide school improvement strategies.
- Foster communication channels among school administration, students, faculty, parents, local community, and base support offices.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must meet strict conditions of employment, including being a U.S. Citizen, complying with Selective Service for males born after 1959, and possessing valid direct deposit arrangements. Suitability for employment will be verified through background checks including Tier 3 investigation due to interaction with minors. Commitment to mobility agreements and readiness for worldwide assignment and rotation to any DoWEA location are required.
Educational prerequisites include a Master's degree in Educational Administration or Educational Leadership or equivalent semester hours focused on these areas. Applicants should hold a fully professional, unencumbered state teaching license or meet equivalent certification through recognized evaluations or testing (Praxis I and II or seven years of PreK-12 teaching). A minimum of three years successful classroom or relevant professional educator experience at the Pre-K-12 level is mandatory.
Foreign education credentials must be officially evaluated by approved organizations or institutions before enrollment. Complete transcripts and certifications must be submitted with the application.
Additional Employment Terms
- Applicants must adhere to Exceptional Family Member Program policies and meet residency restrictions under the pertinent Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA).
- Medical and dental care abroad will largely depend on host nation facilities; military medical access is limited and reimbursable.
