Role Overview

As Assistant Lead Trainer, you will act as a core delivery partner to the Lead Trainer in helping persons with disabilities build vocational and technical capabilities. Your work will centre on running training sessions smoothly, supporting classroom engagement, and giving practical, individualized guidance so every learner can progress.

This position combines teaching support with operational coordination. You will help execute lesson plans accurately, adapt activities to different learning speeds, and uphold the quality standards of the training programme. Working with Coaches and operations colleagues, you will help create a structured, encouraging environment for each cohort.

Instructional Delivery and Classroom Management

  • Support delivery of vocational and technical modules by co-facilitating sessions, leading selected breakout groups, or stepping in to guide the main cohort when needed.
  • Provide focused, practical assistance during hands-on exercises by translating complex instructions into clear, step-by-step actions.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that works well for different learning needs, disability profiles, and behavioural requirements.

Candidate Progress Tracking and Assessment

  • Observe and assess each learner’s day-to-day progress, flagging any early signs of learning gaps or pacing concerns.
  • Administer and mark competency-based assessments under the Lead Trainer’s direction to monitor workforce readiness.
  • Record learner milestones and share concise updates for cross-functional progress reporting.

Curriculum Adaptation, Planning, and Operations

  • Create daily and weekly lesson plans from the master curriculum, aligning activities and timelines to the needs of the current cohort.
  • Work with the Lead Trainer to review the training framework and suggest improvements, updates, or locally relevant content based on live classroom observations.
  • Develop supporting learning aids, interactive exercises, and visually clear step-by-step materials that simplify complex topics.
  • Prepare the classroom in advance by setting up physical materials, digital tools, software, and assistive technology needed for each session.
  • Coordinate with Coaches so that individual soft-skill and behavioural objectives are built into day-to-day lesson goals.

Direct Job Coaching and Candidate Support

  • Provide hands-on job coaching during training and after placement to help candidates adjust to real workplace expectations and tasks.
  • Offer immediate soft-skill coaching and emotional regulation support when candidates encounter setbacks, using a high-touch approach similar to the Coaches.
  • Guide learners in developing good work habits, professional communication, and sensory or cognitive coping strategies suited to their role and environment.
  • Support troubleshooting alongside candidates so employers and supervisors understand how to better include and assist them at work.
  • Keep detailed notes on learner progress, challenges, and environmental triggers to ensure smooth handover between internal teams and external stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate brings experience in adult training, vocational teaching, tutoring, or instructional assistance, along with the patience and flexibility needed to support learners closely. Experience working with persons with disabilities or in a highly supportive learning setting is a strong advantage.

You should have a Professional Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Training, Human Resource Development, Psychology, or a related area. Singapore training certifications such as ACLP or ACTA are highly preferred.
