Job Purpose
The appointed individual will oversee client account reconciliations and ensure swift responses to inquiries from intermediaries.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily cash flow by monitoring customer accounts and enforcing the cash before cover policy, handling premium collections, and resolving account queries promptly.
- Promote customer retention and loyalty by ensuring timely commission payments.
- Verify premium payments prior to claim processing, ensuring claim files are confirmed within 24 hours.
- Allocate daily receipts accurately across all customer accounts.
- Provide account information to various internal departments.
- Perform intermediaries reconciliation with no outstanding balances exceeding 30 days and send monthly reconciliation statements to intermediaries.
- Coordinate daily with underwriters on unposted funds for timely posting.
- Support strategic initiatives related to premium collection and credit control for both head office and branches.
- Respond immediately to all customer and agency inquiries; reconcile commission reports and ensure payments by the first week of each month; dispatch outstanding statements by the 10th of every month.
- Address regional credit control queries promptly and prepare all requisite receivables reports on schedule.
- Achieve departmental performance targets as outlined in strategy, balanced scorecard, and personal scorecards.
- Carry out additional assignments as delegated by the supervisor.

- Debtors ratio
- Turnaround time for commission payments
- Turnaround time for receipt allocation
- Turnaround time for reconciliation of intermediary balances
Working Relationships
Internal: Reports to Management Accountant; collaborates closely with claims, underwriting, and sales departments.
External: Interfaces with brokers, agents, banks, direct customers, and the Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA).
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting or related Business disciplines.
- Between 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar capacity.
- Familiarity with insurance regulatory frameworks.
- Knowledge of Britam's products.
