Role Overview

This position entails overall responsibility for IT asset and configuration management within Planet's digital workplace, covering hardware and software assets, the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), and software licensing. Daily functions include ensuring CMDB precision, conducting software asset management and audits using Certero, and maintaining configuration information within Jira/Atlassian systems to uphold compliance, manage costs, and ensure dependable change management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and update the CMDB including configuration items, relationships, and data quality assurance.
• Oversee hardware asset lifecycle processes, from acquisition to disposal, managing inventory movements and refresh cycles.
• Administer software asset management processes with Certero to handle license reconciliation, entitlements, and optimization.
• Prepare for and assist in software audits and true-up events, ensuring licensing compliance and minimizing risk.
• Maintain asset and configuration records in Jira/Atlaskian integrated with IT service management and discovery tools.
• Use discovery and inventory tools to consistently validate and reconcile asset data.
• Identify opportunities for license and hardware cost savings, supporting budgeting and contract renewal efforts.
• Generate detailed reports on assets, configurations, and compliance for team and stakeholder review.
• Develop and uphold asset and configuration management standards, policies, and procedures within a PCI DSS regulated environment.

Success Criteria

A consistently accurate and reliable CMDB, defensible software license status with passed audits, reduced compliance risks, and quantifiable cost savings in licensing and hardware expenditure.

Candidate Profile

• Demonstrated experience in IT asset and configuration management covering both hardware and software.
• Strong ownership and maintenance of CMDB data quality.
• Expertise in software asset management and licensing, preferably with direct experience using Certero.
• Proven track record of preparing for and supporting software audits and vendor license true-ups.
• Proficiency in using Jira/Atlassian for configuration and asset data management.
• Familiarity with discovery and inventory tools and aligning data through reconciliations.
• Excellent analytical and reporting capabilities using Excel and Business Intelligence tools with meticulous attention to detail.
• Experienced working within a regulated environment that employs ITIL standards for change and configuration management.
• ITIL certification and/or IAITAM qualifications such as CHAMP or CSAM are advantageous.
