AS400 Developer

Overview

This role is for an experienced AS400 Developer for a leading multinational organization. The position involves building, improving, and supporting enterprise applications on the IBM iSeries / AS400 environment.

Location

Bangalore, Hyderabad, or Chennai.

Experience

Applicants should have 2 to 7 years of relevant experience.

Notice Period

Immediate joining up to 60 days is preferred.

Education

Any UG full-time degree or a postgraduate qualification is acceptable.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and provide support for applications running on the AS400 / IBM iSeries platform.
• Review business needs and translate them into workable technical solutions.
• Write, test, troubleshoot, and deploy RPGLE programs.
• Handle application enhancements, defect fixes, and production support tasks.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate applications and resolve issues.
• Maintain application performance, security, and adherence to coding standards.
• Prepare technical documents and assist with release-related activities.

Required Skills

• Strong working knowledge of RPGLE, CLLE, DB2/400, and SQLRPGLE.
• Practical experience with IBM iSeries / AS400 systems.
• Understanding of the application development lifecycle.
• Ability to debug issues and improve program performance.
• Familiarity with batch jobs, subfiles, and stored procedures.
• Exposure to production support and incident handling.
• Good communication and analytical problem-solving ability.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with APIs, web services, or system integration initiatives.
• Familiarity with change management tools.
• Knowledge of Agile or Scrum delivery practices is beneficial.
