Area Manager – Construction

Job Summary

This role involves overseeing projects from start to finish, ensuring safety, timeliness, budget adherence, and compliance with client requirements and UAE regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the execution of several structural steel construction projects within assigned areas.
• Oversee site activities from mobilization through to project completion and handover.
• Coordinate the fabrication, transport, erection, and installation of structural steel components.
• Guarantee adherence to project specs, approved shop drawings, method statements, and international standards.
• Lead and manage teams including Project Managers, Site Engineers, Supervisors, QA/QC Engineers, Safety Officers, and subcontractors.
• Track project schedules, resource allocation including manpower, equipment, and materials to meet milestones.
• Enforce strict compliance with UAE health, safety, environmental laws, and company HSE policies.
• Participate in progress meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and government bodies.
• Monitor budgets, handle variations, claims, and implement cost control strategies.
• Ensure quality inspections, testing, documentation, and proper project closeout procedures.
• Address technical, commercial, and operational challenges impacting project delivery.
• Mentor project teams to enhance productivity and effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering.
• PMP certification is desirable.
• HSE certifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH are beneficial.
• A valid UAE driving licence is preferred.

Experience

• 10 to 15 years of construction experience.
• Minimum 5 years in an Area Manager or Senior Project Manager capacity.
• Extensive experience in the UAE/GCC region specifically in structural steel fabrication and erection projects.
• Proven management of industrial buildings, warehouses, factories, commercial projects, or infrastructure.
• Experience collaborating with main contractors, consultants, and government authorities in the UAE.

Technical Skills

• In-depth knowledge of structural steel processes like fabrication, erection, welding, bolting, and heavy lifting.
• Proficiency in interpreting IFC, shop, connection, and fabrication drawings.
• Experience using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office suite.
• Understanding of QA/QC processes, Inspection Test Plans, and project document control.
• Familiarity with contract management, variation orders, and project claims.
