Program overview

Amazon is running a career transition initiative in Germany for people moving into corporate work from high-performance backgrounds. The program begins in late October 2026 and is structured as a 12-month fixed-term contract in Munich, Bavaria. This opportunity sits within Amazon’s Consumer business and is designed to support participants as they step into business-as-usual roles.

Participants are hired into an individual contributor role as part of a cohort. The program supports the transition with structured onboarding, on-the-job learning, mentorship, a buddy system, and curated training resources.

Who the program is for

The program welcomes applicants from three backgrounds:

• Former professional athletes who bring resilience, discipline, focus, and teamwork.
• Former military or police professionals who want to transfer leadership, operational, and execution skills into a corporate setting.
• Career returners with prior corporate experience who have been away from work for at least 18 months.

Role context

The role is within Amazon Consumer, the part of the business responsible for shaping the customer shopping journey. The team works across discovery, checkout, payments, delivery experience, and broader operational and technical challenges at scale. Typical placements may include account management, vendor management, business development, product management, or program management.

Working arrangement

This position is based onsite and requires attendance in the office five days each week. Remote work is only possible occasionally and by exception when needed.

Eligibility and application criteria

To be considered, candidates should have at least 4 years of experience in professional sports or athletics. They must also satisfy one of the following timing requirements: they left their career no more than 12 months before the program begins, or they have been in full-time education or outside the workforce since leaving. Candidates must already have the legal right to work in Munich, as sponsorship is unavailable. Strong spoken and written English at C1 level or above is required.

Preferred background

• A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Experience solving problems and delivering results in fast-moving, high-pressure settings is valued.
• Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to lead change without clear direction are important.
• Applicants should be able to balance strategic thinking with practical execution and strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, is preferred.
• German language fluency in both speaking and writing is an advantage.
