Worldwide Clinical Trials is a midsize global Contract Research Organization (CRO) with over 3,500 talented professionals dedicated to innovating and advancing treatments for persistent diseases. We cultivate an environment where diversity, inclusion, creativity, and collaboration thrive, enabling employees to perform their best work daily.
Role Overview
The AI Prompt Engineer in the Commercial function is responsible for creating and refining multi-step prompts used in AI tools such as Claude, GenieOne, and Microsoft Copilot. This role focuses on enhancing commercial workflows including proposals, pricing, deal support, and client materials by developing reusable prompt libraries and templates. It is essential to have fluency in prompt engineering and a solid understanding of commercial business processes, but software engineering or AI model development skills are not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and iterate complex multi-step prompts for AI tools to support commercial workflows like proposal drafting, pricing assistance, and client communication.
- Develop and manage a reusable skills library for AI applications across commercial tasks to facilitate adoption across teams.
- Create user-friendly custom instructions and templates enabling non-technical personnel to generate consistent, brand-aligned client-ready outputs.
- Craft prompt patterns for deliverables such as capability statements, bid defense documentation, and sponsor briefings.
- Incorporate CRM and pipeline data (e.g., Salesforce) into prompts and templates using governed content extracts.
- Support demand and pipeline management through summarization prompts and performance readouts.
- Lead enablement initiatives including office hours, resource libraries, guidance materials, and onboarding programs to drive tool adoption.
- Implement quality assurance frameworks ensuring AI outputs meet standards and safeguard confidential and sensitive information with mandatory human approvals.
- Regularly collect feedback, measure usage metrics, retire outdated prompts, and update libraries in response to evolving workflows and technologies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 2 years experience specializing in prompt engineering for large language models with hands-on use of Claude, GenieOne, and Microsoft Copilot in practical settings.
- Proven track record of building or curating prompt or skill libraries for team use.
- Knowledgeable about commercial processes including proposals, RFP responses, pricing, bids, business development, and sales pipeline management.
- Ability to create reusable assets—skills, templates, and instructions—for end-users without requiring ongoing expert intervention.
- Familiarity working with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and content management tools (e.g., SharePoint), complemented by strong document and presentation skills using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Excellent writing skills capable of producing polished business content and clear, concise guidance suitable for non-technical audiences.
- A cautious approach to governance appropriate to regulated and client-facing environments, ensuring appropriate limits on AI use within commercial workflows.
- No software engineering, coding, or AI model training experience is necessary.
Additional Skills and Industry Background
- Experience in commercial, business development, proposal, pricing, sales operations, or marketing roles preferably within CROs, pharma, life sciences, or regulated industries.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite including Copilot features and Salesforce or equivalent CRMs.
- Prior involvement in enablement, training, or change management initiatives for business units.
