About Heritage Lifecare and Location

Annie Brydon Lifecare is a 68-bed care home and hospital with a 48-unit village located in Hawera, Taranaki, a region known for stunning landscapes such as Mount Taranaki, peaceful parks, and coastal amenities—offering a great work-life balance with affordable housing and community facilities.

Role Overview

We are seeking a compassionate Activities Assistant for Cantabria Lifecare & Village in Rotorua on a fixed-term full-time basis (minimum 32 hours weekly) covering sick leave until 13 August 2027. The role primarily involves morning shifts. This position is ideal for someone enthusiastic about supporting aged residents through meaningful activities that cater to their physical, spiritual, cultural, cognitive, and emotional needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and deliver diverse activities, outings, and events tailored to resident needs.
  • Facilitate involvement in community groups to enhance resident engagement.
  • Work collaboratively within a team to foster a safe, caring, and supportive environment.
  • Build and maintain trusting and positive relationships with residents and their families.
  • Support team members and adapt to the dynamic needs of the care environment.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience in caregiving roles, preferably within aged care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, alongside proficient problem-solving skills.
  • Valid full New Zealand driver’s license with confidence operating a van.
  • A heartfelt dedication to assisting others, demonstrating positive, friendly customer service approaches.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and understanding the importance of health and safety standards.
