Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Workforce Development Manager to join the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) within the Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU). This full-time, permanent position operates across ERSOU and Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) commands to support and execute ERSOU’s Workforce Plan aligned with strategic goals set by the Chief Officer. The role requires excellent negotiation and influencing skills to foster and maintain collaborative relationships at all organizational levels. Core duties include sustaining a diverse and capable workforce pipeline with reporting, coordinating inclusion initiatives, and overseeing learning and development programs by collaborating with partners, Human Resources, Communications, and other departments. This role is crucial in ensuring ERSOU colleagues have opportunities for growth and development while safeguarding the communities of the Eastern Region.
About ERSOU
Established in 2010, ERSOU is funded by seven police forces in the Eastern Region, with Bedfordshire Police as the lead. ERSOU focuses on regional responses to Serious and Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism Policing, staffed by officers and police personnel from across the region. The unit offers a unique environment for professional development in specialist law enforcement disciplines, often delivering capabilities supplemented by local forces. ERSOU is committed to fostering a leadership team that reflects the area's diversity and encourages applications from underrepresented groups, including women, ethnic minorities, disabled persons, and LGBTQ+ individuals.

Demonstrated knowledge of development frameworks is preferred. This role is high-profile and influential, focusing on workforce excellence and community protection.
Vetting and Security
Candidates must be willing to undergo Management Vetting and Security Clearance with a 5-year residency requirement, including development vetting before appointment. The vetting process involves checks on personal and household financial backgrounds.
