Position Overview
The Training & Development Advisor is tasked with creating and enhancing training programs, educational materials, and competency-based learning solutions geared towards improving workforce skills, operational efficiency, and aligning with company goals.
Collaborating closely with operational leaders, subject matter experts, and various stakeholders, this role focuses on developing engaging training resources that empower employees to perform their duties safely and efficiently.
The position combines strategic planning for workforce development with practical responsibilities such as curriculum design, facilitating training sessions, managing learning systems, and promoting a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and regularly update training content including facilitator guides, manuals, presentations, and evaluation tools.
- Develop diverse learning formats such as classroom sessions, on-site training, online courses, and blended methods.
- Align training materials with operational procedures, regulatory requirements, equipment specifications, and industry standards.
- Analyze feedback, training data, and performance metrics to drive improvements in the training approach and competency systems.
- Apply adult learning theories, instructional design best practices, and leverage emerging technologies for effective training delivery.
- Research and integrate both internal and external training resources to meet organizational needs.
- Partner with operational leaders and experts to determine learning requirements and develop suitable training solutions.
- Offer support for onboarding processes, project mobilizations, and client-specific training programs.
- Maintain and administer training records and content within the Learning Management System; ensure accuracy and currency of documentation.
- Produce reports and metrics related to training activities as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- 3 to 5 years’ experience designing training programs within mining, construction, industrial, or heavy equipment sectors.
- Proficient in developing instructor-led and e-learning content.
- Experience in competency-based training development and assessment tool creation.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) administration.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Adult Education, Instructional Design, Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field.
- Certificates in Adult Learning, Instructional Design, E-Learning Development, or Training are advantageous.
- Knowledge of instructional design principles, adult learning methodologies, and competency frameworks.
- Understanding of mining, construction, maintenance, or heavy equipment operations.
- Excellent technical writing, editing, and content development abilities.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office, LMS platforms, and e-learning development software.
- Strong organizational, project management, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Analytical, problem-solving aptitude with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within diverse teams.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Additional Information
Applicants moving forward for head office positions will undergo pre-employment testing including breath alcohol, urine drug tests, and background checks.
For site-based roles, candidates must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License with a recent abstract, a valid CSO certificate, and be subject to random testing at specified sites. Additional pre-employment assessments include fitness-to-work health assessment, audiometric testing, and vision screening.
