System Engineer

About the Role

The System Engineer role primarily involves overseeing the maintenance and operational reliability of various airport lighting and electronic systems including the Airfield Lighting Control Monitoring System (ALCMS), SAM, AiPRON Manager, constant current regulators, ILCMS, and Auxiliary Electronic Systems like Fire Detection/Alarm, Building Management System (BMS), and VoIP.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the maintenance team responsible for the upkeep of electronics systems and devices installed in the airport environment.
• Analyze equipment failures thoroughly to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Evaluate and report potential safety hazards related to maintenance activities, ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations.
• Supervise, plan, organize, and assess the performance of technicians, adjusting assignments, procedures, and schedules including overtime and leave management.
• Provide training to staff, support their performance evaluations, and maintain high team motivation and development.
• Handle all maintenance task executions according to defined project scopes and review related records and reports for the ALCMS, SAM, and AiPRON systems.
• Inspect airport facilities regularly and suggest necessary corrective measures.
• Utilize computerized maintenance management systems to schedule and document maintenance activities efficiently.
• Oversee and evaluate work performed by external contractors and subcontractors.
• Support senior management in overall planning and executing maintenance operations and recommend procurement of capital equipment and spare parts to enhance operation standards.

Essential Skills and Experience

• At least 5 years’ experience working with electronic equipment and SCADA systems in airport environments.
• Strong understanding of Airfield Lighting operation and maintenance within regulatory frameworks such as QCAR, ICAO, BAA, and FAA.
• Familiarity with airside operations, rules, and industry best practices.
• Proficient in the use of standard and specialized tools necessary for electronic maintenance tasks.
• Exceptional ability to interpret complex technical instructions both oral and written, and to prepare detailed maintenance reports.
• Proven leadership, team management, and staff development capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in additional languages is advantageous.
• Capability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and airport authorities.
• Effective planning, scheduling, and reporting skills with focus on safety and customer orientation.
• Self-motivated with a results-driven attitude and strong safety consciousness.
• Possession of a valid Qatari Driving License is required.
