Overview
This role, managed by our partner company, seeks a System Administrator based in Canada. The ideal candidate is an IT professional passionate about resolving complex technical challenges and maintaining dependable, secure, and efficient systems. You will be instrumental in supporting a global workforce by overseeing devices, software, networks, and security across diverse environments. This position blends hands-on technical support, infrastructure management, troubleshooting, and the enhancement of processes. Working remotely within an international collaborative team, you'll have opportunities to influence internal technology workflows while developing your expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver technical assistance for employees operating on Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computing devices, software applications, peripherals, and IT equipment.
- Manage support requests efficiently via ticketing tools such as Jira.
- Identify and resolve issues related to hardware, software, connectivity, and networking.
- Handle device lifecycle administration, including inventory, setup, deployment, maintenance, and upgrades.
- Deploy and manage security tools like VPNs, antivirus software, mobile device management, backup utilities, firewalls, and monitoring solutions.
- Ensure adherence to organizational IT policies, security standards, and operational guidelines.
- Keep technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge base materials current and comprehensive.
- Support network operations involving protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and VLANs.
- Identify opportunities for IT process improvements through automation, scripting, and optimization projects.
- Assist with user permissions, system settings, and infrastructure-related responsibilities.
Qualifications
- 2 to 4 years of experience in system administration or a related technical support capacity.
- Proficiency managing Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
- Solid foundational knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and VLANs.
- Experience with security technologies such as antivirus tools, firewalls, backups, MDM platforms, and logging utilities.
- Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity faults effectively.
- Familiarity with ticket management systems and documenting technical processes.
- Basic scripting capabilities using Bash, PowerShell, or similar tools are advantageous.
- Preferred experience with Active Directory, Group Policy administration, and virtualization platforms like VMware or Hyper-V.
- Excellent communication skills for clear, professional user support.
- Capacity to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage responsibilities in a remote environment.
