Social Media Specialist

About the Role

Mighty Ape is seeking a Social Media Specialist to lead the comprehensive management of our social content strategy. This role involves planning, developing, publishing, and analyzing content that vivifies the Mighty Ape brand, covering diverse product categories like gaming, books, movies, toys, technology, and home living. Reporting to the Creative Lead, you'll craft social-first material that enhances engagement, strengthens brand loyalty, and drives conversion. If you are deeply immersed in social platforms, proactively identify emerging trends, and are comfortable in front of the camera, we want to connect with you. This is a permanent, full-time position based onsite in Auckland.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and execute the social content calendar, ensuring content is planned, scheduled, and published across all Mighty Ape platforms in alignment with promotional campaigns.
• Develop compelling, platform-specific social content including graphics, short videos, and copy; occasionally participate as on-camera talent.
• Coordinate logistics and oversee creative planning for content shoots, while ensuring all social assets meet quality, branding, and compliance standards.
• Handle daily community engagement by monitoring and responding to user interactions, escalating sensitive issues as necessary.
• Oversee influencer and contra partnership programs including briefing, contract management, approvals, relationship nurturing, and performance reporting.
• Analyze social media channel performance data (Meta, TikTok, YouTube, etc.) to inform strategies that enhance engagement continually.
• Manage operational tasks such as trackers, invoices, briefs, and process improvements to sustain social media workflows.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Proven experience managing brand social media channels, covering content planning, creation, publishing, and community management.
• Strong capabilities in producing visual and written content, including graphics and short-form videos, with confidence appearing on camera.
• In-depth understanding of trends, formats, and algorithms across major platforms like Meta, TikTok, YouTube, and new channels.
• Keen attention to detail with knowledge of advertising compliance, including the Fair Trading Act and ASA Advertising Standards Code.
• Excellent organizational and communication abilities to juggle multiple campaigns and deadlines effectively.
