Job Overview
Leicestershire County Council is searching for a dedicated Social Care Recruitment and Retention Officer to join their team at County Hall, Glenfield. This permanent role involves working 37 hours per week and offers a salary range between £32,070 and £34,359 annually (pro rata for part-time roles, pending pay award). The closing date for applications is 31 August 2026.
Role Purpose
The successful candidate will act as a passionate advocate for adult social care careers, assisting in the development and sustainability of the sector’s workforce. As part of this responsibility, they will lead the Future Workforce programme aimed at inspiring new entrants and building lasting pipelines of talent in social care.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote adult social care careers throughout Leicestershire by collaborating with educational institutions, employers, training providers, and community groups.
- Deliver presentations, workshops, and engagement activities to diverse audiences, including secondary school pupils and adults seeking career changes.
- Adapt communication styles to effectively connect with various groups, nurturing positive relationships.
- Support and lead workforce recruitment and retention initiatives that enhance sector awareness and attract new talent.
- Organize and contribute to campaigns and events, including the Care Professional of the Year Awards, to recognize outstanding contributions within social care.
Candidate Profile
- Proven ability to engage and influence a broad range of audiences and stakeholders, alongside experience drafting detailed reports for senior management.
- Comfortable and confident delivering presentations to varied groups, from young pupils to adult career changers.
- Solid understanding of the adult social care sector, including challenges, career pathways, and recruitment issues.
- Experience in social media utilization across platforms relevant to recruitment and workforce engagement.
- Background in executing recruitment, workforce development, or career engagement initiatives, preferably with direct experience in social care recruitment or substantive sector experience.
- Strong communication, networking skills, and a genuine enthusiasm to inspire and attract new talent.
