About the Role

Become a vital member of MACA's skilled Drill & Blast team located at multiple mining sites throughout Western Australia. As a Shotfirer, you will be responsible for expertly managing the operation of drilling rigs to ensure that blasting is carried out safely, precisely, and efficiently, meeting the daily production objectives. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, load, and initiate explosives following all safety protocols and blast design specifications.
  • Carry out pre-blast safety inspections to ensure all compliance requirements are met.
  • Work closely with drill operators and supervisors to deliver precise blast patterns.
  • Handle explosives with care, ensuring safe storage and management.
  • Document and maintain detailed blast reports and relevant records.
  • Monitor environmental factors to reduce impact from blasting operations.
  • Safeguard and clear blast zones before detonation for safety.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in drill and blast operations.
  • Valid Dangerous Goods Security Card.
  • Current Shotfirer Licence.
  • In-depth understanding of explosives and blasting methods.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Possession of a current Western Australia Drivers Licence.
