Position Overview
This role, designated as fully remote within the continental United States, involves managing short-term disability (STD) claims and administrative management (AM) claims. While primarily remote, occasional office presence may be required, with prior notice.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver empathetic, trustworthy, and attentive customer service to claimants and employers to build strong confidence.
- Review and process new and ongoing STD and AM claims accurately and timely, considering all relevant clinical, vocational, financial, and employer information aligned with contract terms and applicable regulations.
- Maintain detailed and precise claim documentation and systematically utilize claims management plans to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory and operational standards, meeting or exceeding team metrics.
- Collaborate with internal teams to foster a positive, professional, and excellence-driven work environment.
- Perform additional related duties as necessary.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Between zero to two years of relevant claims experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with disability claim management concepts.
- Strong commitment to providing empathetic customer service.
- Ability to work autonomously in a remote setting while staying connected with the team.
- Good understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and pathology.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, good decision-making abilities, and capability to manage confidential information.
- Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications.
- Ability to manage stress, multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in claims processing.
- Confidence in making claim decisions and results-oriented approach.
- Strong financial understanding related to claims.
- Commitment to following departmental and company procedures rigorously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated expertise in STD, long-term disability (LTD), or administrative management (AM) products, along with knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements.
Total Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary range for this role is $45,000 to $65,000, influenced by factors such as education, experience, certifications, location, and market conditions. Compensation growth potential exists beyond initial hire.
